PCORI’s funding decisions are driven by a number of factors, including: 1) scores from the merit review, 2) any areas of special interest identified by PCORI, 3) PCORI’s current portfolio of funding projects (and whether your project is filling an important gap in that portfolio), and 4) the requirements of the current program funding announcements (PFAs). Unlike NIH, PCORI does not provide a merit score percentile or cut-off for funding; instead, their decisions are made largely based on whether the applications fit within their portfolio and other such factors, as long as the merit score is sufficiently positive. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the main types of PCORI program funding announcements. 2. Identify ways to describe PCORI’s current portfolio and areas of special interest.
